STEP 02 / Materials & samples

Confirm the sample before proceeding.

Review upper, lining, insole and outsole components separately. Confirm composition and finish from specifications and samples rather than photographs alone. Compare colors under agreed viewing conditions. Record fit feedback, proposed changes and approved revisions. Material substitutions can affect appearance and assembly, so they need review before the order proceeds.

Points to review

  • Component specifications and color references
  • Sample appearance and fit feedback
  • Approval record and substitution rules

Material review

Compare proposed components with the agreed specifications before cutting. Review color, surface condition, material direction and suitability for the selected construction. Keep substitutions subject to written approval.

During preparation and assembly

Check component matching, seam alignment and shoe shape before later operations make corrections harder. Any change to materials or construction should be reviewed against the approved sample.

Before packing and dispatch

Review finished pairs and reconcile size, color and quantity distributions with the order. Agree defect criteria, any sampling plan and the release decision in advance. Testing and third-party inspection require separate confirmation.

Prepare the order information

A clear specification keeps the sample, production requirements and packing instructions connected. Include the following in your inquiry.

  • Product code or reference sample, with annotated photos
  • Destination country and intended use
  • Upper, lining, insole and outsole specifications
  • Color references, size range and pairs per size
  • Pair count, packing instructions and label artwork
  • Required checks, target delivery date and commercial terms

Production questions

Do all shoe styles follow the same process?

No. Sneakers, loafers, flats, heels, sandals and boots use different components and constructions. The sequence here is a guide; the selected style determines the actual operations and checks.

What should the approved sample confirm?

Appearance, component specifications, color references, size and fit requirements, construction details and packing expectations. Record revisions and the final sample version so the order has a clear reference.

How is the production schedule confirmed?

Review material availability, sample approval, style complexity, size and color distribution, order quantity and packing requirements together. Confirm the schedule directly; no fixed lead time applies to every order.

Can specifications change after approval?

Discuss the affected materials, sample, quantity, cost and schedule before accepting a change. Use written confirmation and a revised reference rather than informal messages alone.

Does visual inspection replace laboratory testing?

No. Appearance and pairing checks do not establish chemical compliance, durability or other performance claims. Agree any destination-market testing or external inspection and its scope before the order.
